About April
April is a Coach with expertise in using somatic healing modalities to help her clients overcome the damaging effects of chronic stress and stored trauma; and develop deep inner resilience and nervous system regulation.
In addition to her Coaching training, April has a Psychology degree from Simon Fraser University and is in training to become a Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner with the Somatic Experiencing International Organization founded by Dr. Peter Levine.
April has successfully walked her own path of recovery from childhood trauma, and nervous system dysregulation. It is her own healing journey that inspired her to become a Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner. After trying many other modalities during her journey, it was ultimately SE™ that provided profound shifts for her. As a result, she wishes to help others do the same.
April brings a powerful combination of lived experience and professional training and excels at helping her clients work with their nervous system to relieve symptoms of stress, and to disrupt trauma and unwanted behavioural patterns.
Her approach has been described as gentle, deeply personalized and highly effective.
What does a Somatic Coaching session look like? As a Somatic Coach, in a session, I employ nervous system education and a variety of mind-body techniques to support you in connecting with your body and your surroundings. The education allows you to better understand how our nervous systems are designed to work, and to better understand the experience that you are healing. The mind-body techniques allow you to connect to your body and gradually explore sensations, movements, and emotions connected to your experience in a safe and supportive environment.
